Dumpster Dates (2020)

Mark your calendar! On the following Saturdays in 2020, City dumpsters will be available for community cleanup. Dumpsters typically arrive in the morning and are available for a limited amount of time. Note that the city has cancelled all dumpster at this time because of the pandemic.

2018 Annual Meeting & Greenmount Partners Presentation

The Better Waverly Community Organization will hold its annual meeting Thursday, September 27 at 7:00pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church (3009 Greenmount Avenue). We will elect the Board of Directors for the next year. Everyone in the community is welcome to join.

Greenmount Partners, a local real estate development group, will make a presentation to the community. Since 2016, Greenmount Partners has purchased more than a dozen properties with a total of approximately 20 storefronts. They will present plans for renovating buildings and filling vacant storefronts. This meeting is your opportunity to share your vision for our main street!

901 Arts Hiring Five Neighborhood Youth for 2018-2019 School Year

901 Arts is looking to hire five neighborhood youth for the fall 2018-spring 2019 school year. If you are or know any young people in Better Waverly between the ages of 14-20 years old who might be interested please pass on the information below or tell them to stop by 901 Arts.

The hourly wage is $10 an hour for 5 hours a week with a schedule to be determined. The job will be doing cleaning, greening and neighborhood beautification projects.

Download the application for obtain a paper application from the waterproof info box on the side of our building between our mailbox and the front door. The applications are due Aug 6th and can be left in our mailbox.

2015 Annual Meeting

Save the date! The annual meeting of the Better Waverly Community Organization will be held on Thursday, October 15, 6-8pm, at the Johns Hopkins at Eastern Campus, 1131 East 33rd Street, Room B102.

The Better Waverly Community Organization invites you to our Love Where You LIVE Community Fest!

Free hot dogs, soda, and a birthday cake for our City Councilwoman, Mary Pat Clarke

The event is possible in part by a MECU neighborhood grant and The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts.

2015 Annual Plan & General Meeting

The Better Waverly Community Organization will hold a general meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 6:30pm to 8pm at Hopkins at Eastern (1101 E. 33rd St). A Photo ID is required to enter the building.

The BWCO Board of Directors will present the 2015 Annual Plan. For 2015, the work of the Better Waverly Community Organization will be completed by its eight committees. Each committee defines its scope, responsibilities, and goals for the year. Each committee is led by a chairperson. Membership on each committee consists of board members and people from the general membership of BWCO. New members may join committees at any time during the year.

BWCO maintains the following committees:

  • Activities and Events
  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Greening
  • Housing, Sanitation, and Code Enforcement
  • Land Use and Architectural Review
  • Safety
  • Youth
