Who is Better Waverly Resource Distribution?

We’re a diverse group of caring neighbors in and around the Better Waverly neighborhood in northeast Baltimore who saw a great need in our community. We gather and accept donations to give out to our neighbors at once a month events.

How did BWRD get started?

We got started during the pandemic. There was such an overwhelming need and we were able to receive and distribute resources collected from the City and neighbors. We started in garages that were sometimes too small or exposed to the elements of each season, and just recently, we landed in a more secure and functional location.

What items does BWRD give out?

BWRD distributes mainly unopened/unused baby formula, diapers, baby wipes, and toiletries. When available, we also give out covid tests, masks, condoms, used kid’s and adult clothing, baby strollers, playpens, and other household items. While this is our focus, we distribute anything we can to our neighbors.

What items would BWRD purchase with more donations?

We’d love to always give out Similac Advance baby formula. We want all the babies in our neighborhood well fed and happy. But if we are really dreaming, we would like to give out car seats, high chairs, strollers and other special requests!

Who can receive the items from the distribution?

Anybody in the Better Waverly neighborhood. We don’t need proof of identification or income. We serve about 70-80 families every distribution day.

When and where does BWRD have their distribution days?

We have a spot in the Better Waverly neighborhood. Our distribution days are one Sunday a month, to find out when and where text 352-584-5706.

Does BWRD accept donations?

Yes, please! We accept monetary donations through our fiscal sponsor, the Better Waverly Community Organization which is a 501(c)(3), which means that your monetary donations are tax deductible. You can write a check to Better Waverly Community Organization and mail it to PO Box 7116, Baltimore, MD 21218. Email board@betterwaverly.org with questions.

We also accept in-kind donations, new and used items, for babies and toddlers items like bassinets, strollers, play pens. We also accept unopened donations of baby formula, wipes, and diapers.
