Cleaning & Greening Waverly helps our streams, rivers & bay!
Waverly is built on old streambeds that now serve as storm water lines, catching and carrying rainwater that prevent flooding of streets and cellars, and flow into Jones Falls/Herring Run/Baltimore Harbor/Chesapeake Bay.

To our east/west are beautiful forested urban streambeds with green space, parks and waterways cleaned and watched over by Herring Run & Jones Falls Watershed Associations. Visit www.herringrun.org and www.jonesfalls.org.
When it rains, garbage, pet droppings and trash from streets and alleys are swept from our storm drains to outfalls into these waterways.
When you pick up trash, pick up after pets and leave garbage out in tightly sealed containers (only on the days it is to be picked up) this improves how your street looks and prevents pollution, so that the water running through parks, into streams and past beaches, stays clean. A block without garbage, pet droppings and trash looks/smells better and keeps rats and bugs away!
