Below is a description of CSAFE from Greater Homewood Community Corporation's webpage.
Better Waverly has been added to the CSAFE program which already covers included Waverly and Pen Lucy.
CSAFE description from GHCC Webpage:Comprehensive Strategic and Focused Enforcement (CSAFE) is an initiative supported by the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and Baltimore City, in partnership with Parole and Probation (P&P), Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), Housing Authority of Baltimore City, States Attorney’s Office, Baltimore Police Department, and the community to address public safety issues and strengthen communities.
Greater Homewood Community Corporation has facilitated the CSAFE Program in Pen Lucy and Waverly since 2006. Youth and adults in the service area, under the supervision of the DJS and P&P agents, regularly report to a community site and receive home visits from the agents and the Community Liaison Police Officer assigned to the site. Clients are also linked to additional services to facilitate successful reintegration back to the community, such as job placement and education. Regular meetings are held with the partners and the community to address public safety issues, vacant and/or substandard housing, lighting and traffic issues, and support community events to engage residents in clean-ups, greening projects, senior and youth activities, community celebrations, and additional annual events. Annual events have included an anti-crime walk, the Mayor’s fall and spring clean-ups, National Night Out, and a community parade along Greenmount Avenue.
